Volunteers Wanted

Not a Professional? Not a problem

We have space for voluntravelers without training or experience in medicine, education, or social work. Contact us to learn more about these opportunities.

Custom Placements

Many of our past volunteers have designed their own program. If you have a program concept or idea for Voluntraveler, we might be able to help you. Past successes include fund raisers, after school programs, and health education seminars.

Charity Partners Needed

We are currently expanding our programs and seeking new charity partners to accept our voluntravelers. If you know of such a charity in a developing country, please contact us.

What we do

Selecting Voluntravelers

Everything we do is with the partner community in mind, so sending the right people with the right skill set and intent is of great importance. Applicants will be subject to a careful interview and a recent police background check is required.

Pre-departure Briefing and Information

Prior to departure, our voluntravelers receive an information package with detailed information on connecting with our local staff upon arrival in country, settling into the community and getting started in the program. Throughout the year, information sessions will be held in Toronto for voluntravelers who wish to ask us questions in person and learn even more about their upcoming experience.

Program Fees

Program fees are sent to the participant's host organization (like Para el Mundo) to help cover their program operating costs and provide room and board for our voluntravelers. We also use a portion to help us keep the lights on in the Voluntraveler office when we work late.

Supporting Our Voluntravelers

While participating in the program, we provide support for our voluntravelers through our local staff, and through our office via internet and telephone. While we expect our voluntravelers to be independent and capable international travelers, we gladly provide whatever advice, assistance and support we can.

Voluntraveler Community

Your experience is something we think you should share with as many others people as possible, which is why we created our facebook page and the Voluntraveler Blog, which contain contributions from our staff and volunteers on the ground with a partner charity.
