Make Your Own Program

Many of our past volunteers have designed their own program. If you have a program concept or idea for Voluntraveler, we might be able to help you get it up and running. Past successes include fund raisers, after school programs, and health education seminars.

Charity Partners Needed

We are currently expanding our programs and seeking new charity partners to accept our voluntravelers. If you know of such a charity in a developing country, please contact us.

Community Voluntraveler

This is ideal for people who like working with children and are prepared for the challenges of dealing with children in a poor comunity who may have disabilities, special needs, or who have suffered trauma or abuse.

Under the direction of local staff, you would work with children in an after-school and seasonal day camp program for children whose emotional, academic or social needs are not being met at school and at home and at a day centre for children and families with special needs. Your time could be spent on either or both of these projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience working with children in a classroom, therapy setting, group or camp-like setting.
Intermediate level Spanish
Minimum stay 2 weeks (3 or more weeks recommended)

Program Cost:

$375 USD per week *

All-inclusive:

In-country transportation from airport to program site
Rent (includes all utilities)

Clean water for drinking and cooking

Use of house computers and printer
Supplies and costs for your program
House phone for local calls and receiving international calls
Cleaning service in the house once a week
24 HR support from the Voluntraveler team

Fees do not include:

Flight to destination country
Return flight home or onward travel
Travel or medical insurance
Dining out and other entertainment
Specialty food items **

** If you are a vegetarian or vegan, or have special dietary needs, please be aware that specialty foods are more expensive compared to other foods in Máncora when available. Please plan to spend a little extra money on such items food if they will only be consumed by you. Voluntraveler can provide a list of what specialty foods are commonly available.
